Description
Low Mintage 1879 Three Dollar MS61
1879 $3 MS61 PCGS. Although it had a 36-year history, the three-dollar denomination never really caught on like other gold denominations. Only ten issues saw an annual production exceeding 10,000 coins. This makes for a challenging series today. In 1879, for example, just 3,000 business strikes were produced. This is a gorgeous example for the grade with rich orange-gold color and satiny luster. The fields are lightly reflective on both sides with hints of cameo contrast. Housed in a green label holder.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25N2, PCGS# 8001, GSID# 8650)
