    Low Mintage of 1,500 Coins

    1882 $3 MS62 NGC. Circulation strikes, of which only 1,500 coins were produced, are quickly identified by the presence of repunching on the 2 in the date. They were all delivered on December 23, 1882, possibly reflecting heightened demand for Christmas gifts. Yellow-gold surfaces exhibit characteristic semiprooflikeness, with reflective fields and lightly frosted motifs. Well-struck and minimally marked.(Registry values: N2998)
