    Description

    Low-Mintage 1883 Three Dollar, MS64
    Prooflike and Very Scarce

1883 $3 MS64 ★ NGC. Ex: BRS Legacy Collection. The mintage of just 900 pieces in circulation strike format qualifies the 1883 three dollar gold as not only a series scarcity, but as one of the limited number of federal gold issues in all denominations to have a mintage of less than 1,000 pieces. This Choice Uncirculated coin earned the NGC Star designation for exceptional eye appeal. The attractive prooflike fields surround frosted central devices, with a random scattering of small nicks and wispy lines but no heavy marks. Rich, orange-gold color blankets both sides. Bowers estimates that 75 to 100 Mint State examples of the issue survive, but few can match the quality or visual allure of this sharp example. Census: 15 in 64 (1 in 64+, 2 in 64 ), 8 finer (11/15).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 25N6, PCGS# 8005)

    Weight: 5.02 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
