    MS64 1883 Three Dollar
    Brightly Reflective Surfaces

1883 $3 MS64 PCGS Secure. The 1883 three dollar gold has a memorably low mintage even this series replete with such issues, a meager 900 "business strikes," although most of the certified survivors show scant evidence of actual circulation. The low mintage below 1,000 coins make the issue stand out even in this exceptional series, even though several other late-series entries boast similar totals.
The fields on this near-Gem are brightly reflective and show little of the often-seen cartwheel luster that is found intermixed on many threes. The strike is sharp throughout both sides, although each has a few small abrasions, the most noticeable a small patch in the left obverse field. The even reddish-gold color is a plus. Population: 20 in 64 (1 in 64+), 6 finer (7/12).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 25N6, PCGS# 8005)
