    Description

    Near-Gem 1884 Three Dollar
    Semireflective Luster

1884 $3 MS64 NGC. What is most astounding about the business strike mintage of the 1884 three dollar gold piece, 1,000 pieces, is not that it is so low but that it is higher than that of the 1883 and 1885 issues surrounding it! Offered here is a brightly lustrous near-Gem representative of this elusive date, primarily sun-yellow with occasional canary-gold aspects to the semireflective luster. Liberty's hair is well-defined, and while a few stray abrasions are present in the fields, the overall eye appeal is strong. The NGC Census Report shows just eight numerically finer coins (10/11).(Registry values: N4719)
