    Description

    1886 Three Dollar, MS62
    Rare any Finer

1886 $3 MS62 PCGS. The dies previously used to strike proofs were delivered on December 10th and the 1,000-coin mintage was delivered later that month. Consequently, distinguishing between proofs and business strikes proves difficult. Such is the case with this orange-gold example, featuring undeniable prooflike reflectivity and a sharp strike. A few grade-consistent marks occur throughout. Population: 23 in 62 (1 in 62+), 13 finer (7/14).
From The Valley View Life Collection, Part Two.(Registry values: N2998)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25N9, PCGS# 8008)

    Weight: 5.02 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper

Thanks to Heritage I realized a handsome profit for my coin submissions and intend to send most of the remainder of my collection to Heritage Auction Galleries for future auctions.
