    1886 Three Dollar, Appealing MS62
    Nice for the Grade

1886 $3 MS62 PCGS. A few thin, straight marks appear on the Indian princess's cheek and in the obverse left field, but this yellow-orange piece boasts lots of lively luster and much eye appeal for the assigned grade. The mintage was a meager 1,000 pieces, most of which were likely saved. For our money we would much rather have a slightly rarer date such as this even for type purposes than one of the common "big three" type issues, the 1854, 1874, and 1878 dates. Population: 24 in 62 (1 in 62+), 16 finer (1/16).(Registry values: N2998)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25N9, PCGS# 8008)

    Weight: 5.02 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
