    Description

    1887 Three Dollar Gold, MS65
    Seldom Offered This Fine

1887 $3 MS65 PCGS. Only 6,000 three dollar gold pieces were struck in 1887, although few coins entered circulation for any length of time. Mint State pieces are plentiful in the lower levels of preservation, and Gems, while conditionally scarce, are yet accessible. In finer grades, the 1887 three dollar piece becomes a great rarity and is out of reach for most collectors. This coin displays satiny mint luster with a hint of field reflectivity. The strike is sharp and both sides are free of significant abrasions. An eye-appealing Gem type coin from late in the series. Population: 28 in 65 (1 in 65+), 10 finer (2/19).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 25NA, PCGS# 8009)

    Weight: 5.02 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
