    Elusive CAC-Endorsed Example

    1888 $3 MS64+ PCGS. CAC. A mintage of only 5,000 pieces makes the 1888 three dollar gold piece popular with collectors, although it is more plentiful than that mintage would suggest since it was well-saved at the time of issue. Nonetheless, it is challenging to locate CAC-approved coins. This Plus-graded piece displays impressively sharp detail and smooth honey-gold mint luster. Only some faint hairlines on Liberty's cheek prevent Gem classification.(Registry values: N2998)
