1889 $3 MS61 PCGS. Coming from a mintage of 2,300 business strikes, 1889 three dollar Mint State coins are elusive (David Bowers, United States $3 Gold Pieces). This MS61 example offers deep tangerine-gold surfaces, with good luster, and is sharply struck. Some faint hairlines and minute contact marks account for the grade.
