Description

1873-CC Trade Dollar, MS64
Only One Finer Coin at NGC

1873-CC T$1 MS64 NGC. In 1873, the first year of the denomination, the Carson City Mint struck nearly an eighth of a million Trade dollars. Of those, only a few thousand stayed in the United States; the rest were exported, mostly to China via California, and most of those coins never returned to their country of origin. In Mint State, the 1873-CC Trade dollar is an important condition rarity, and this near-Gem is particularly scarce. Rich rose, gold, and violet toning drapes strongly lustrous surfaces. While the strike is slightly soft over the high points, the overall eye appeal is strong. Census: 6 in 64, 1 finer (1/18).
