Description

1873-S Trade Dollar, MS64 CAC
Finest With Chop Mark

1873-S T$1 Chop Mark MS64 PCGS. CAC. First-year Trade dollars are scarce, and the 1873-S is a costly acquisition any finer than MS64. This lustrous and lightly patinated near-Gem has only a single chop, on the eagle's right (facing) wing. The obverse is surprisingly unabraded, and the reverse displays only wispy field marks. The margins exhibit hints of tan-gold toning. PCGS has certified 45 '73-S Trade dollars with chop marks, and the present lot is single-finest among those. Population: 1 in 64, 0 finer. CAC: 1 in 64, 0 finer (12/24).
