Description

1874-CC Trade Dollar, MS64+
High-End CAC-Approved Rarity

1874-CC T$1 MS64+ PCGS. CAC. Coxe-2.1. Small CC. Period after FINE. Heavy parallel die lines through the bundles on which Liberty's sits is one of the chief diagnostics of this die pair. As a date, the 1874-CC Trade dollar typically appears in grades of MS61 through MS63. Examples in MS64 are scarce, and finer pieces are major rarities. This frosty, lustrous near-Gem shows mostly ivory-white luster save for russet-amber freckles in the upper left obverse margin. A sharp strike characterizes the border stars, while the eagle's right (facing) talon is slightly soft. Only faint contact marks are discernible. Population: 24 in 64 (4 in 64+), 5 finer. CAC: 8 in 64, 1 finer (11/24).(Registry values: N4719)
