Description
Select 1874-S Trade Dollar
Scarce Issue in Higher Mint State
1874-S T$1 MS63 PCGS. Large S. The 1874-S Trade dollar is a
more challenging issue than the large mintage of 2.5 million coins
would suggest. The majority of the mintage was used in the China
trade, and examples in MS63 condition are quite scarce today. The
central devices of the present coin show some softness, as usually
seen on this issue. The surfaces are enhanced by attractive green,
gray, and gold patina. A few minor handling marks are consistent
with the grade. Population: 56 in 63, 20 finer (6/10).(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2533, PCGS# 7036, GSID# 7365)
Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
