1875-S/CC Trade Dollar, Toned AU58
FS-501, Wide Undermintmark Variant
1875-S/CC T$1 FS-501 AU58 NGC. Of the two S/CC variants,
this is the more frequently seen. The second C in the undermintmark
is set wider to the right of the S on FS-501 and is much more
easily seen than the FS-502 overmintmark. The S/CC is very scarce
in high grades with AU examples generally the finest obtainable.
This piece has finely speckled gray-lilac patina over each side,
and shows just the slightest trace of handling. Well, but not
