Description

Near-Gem 1875-S Trade Dollar
A Pleasing Type Coin

1875-S T$1 MS64 PCGS. Type One Reverse. With a mintage figure that approached 4.5 million pieces, the 1875-S had the highest mintage of any Trade dollar to that time, and Mint State pieces are available today. Still, near-Gem representatives can be elusive. This strongly lustrous example is subtly gold-tinged overall with a touch of deeper color at the beginning of AMERICA on the reverse. Well-defined overall, though a touch of softness is noted at Liberty's head and the eagle's right (facing) claw.(Registry values: N2998)
