Description
1875-S Trade Dollar, MS65
A Magnificent Type Coin
Ex: Jack Lee III
1875-S T$1 MS65 PCGS. Type One Obverse, Type One Reverse.
Large S. The mintage of 4.4 million pieces guaranteed that even
after many hundreds of thousands of 1875-S Trade dollars were
exported to the Orient, there would still be an abundant supply on
the West Coast. This magnificent type coin would be hard to beat in
terms of eye appeal. The surfaces are bright and heavily frosted,
the devices almost fully brought up in all areas. A number of coins
have been certified as technically superior, but among MS65
examples this piece has outstanding visual appeal. And surely that
is what Jack Lee and the present consignor appreciated in this
dazzling coin.Ex: Jack Lee Collection III (Heritage, 11/2005), lot 2265. (Registry values: N4719)
