Description

Resplendent Gem 1875-S Trade Dollar

1875-S T$1 MS65 PCGS. Type One Reverse. Large S Mintmark. The vast majority of trade dollars were struck at the San Francisco Mint. From 1873 to 1878, San Francisco produced 26.6 million trade dollars. During the same period, Philadelphia coined 5.1 million pieces and Carson City struck 4.2 million coins.
For the type collector, a common date San Francisco issue, such as this piece, is an ideal choice due to diminished competition from date and variety collectors who likely already have an example.
This lustrous Gem has frosty silver surfaces with full brilliance and traces of faint gold toning on each side. A few scattered marks are evident but of no consequence.(Registry values: N4719)
