    Description

1875 Type Two Reverse Trade Dollar, MS65
    Rarely Seen in Gem Condition

1875 T$1 Type Two Reverse MS65 PCGS. All business strikes have the Type One obverse with the tail of the ribbon pointing left. Both Type One and Type Two reverses are known, most of which are Type Two (no berry beneath claw). The 1875 is notable as the scarcest Philadelphia Mint Trade dollar with only 218,200 pieces produced. It is also well known as a highly lustrous issue. Gems are remarkably scarce, much more so than the mintage indicates. PCGS has only certified one other Gem, and there are two other coins graded higher (11/16). As expected, the surfaces of this dollar are highly lustrous. Just the faintest trace of golden toning can be seen on each side. The strike shows slight high-point softness, and there are no noteworthy abrasions on either side.
