Outstanding MS64 ★ 1877-CC Trade Dollar

1877-CC T$1 MS64 ★ NGC. The logic behind producing just over half a million Trade dollars, a denomination originally intended for overseas consumption, at Carson City, a Mint located in a thoroughly landlocked state that borders no other nation, clearly had more to do with domestic boondoggle than any sort of mercantile practicality. Said boondoggle, however, led to the creation of this gorgeous near-Gem, arguably a worthy trade-off. The shining, moderately reflective obverse shows deep yellow-orange central toning with blue and aqua patina near the rims, while the reverse shows echoes of champagne and russet at the margins. NGC has graded just one numerically finer survivor (2/09).(Registry values: N4719)
