Description

1877-S Trade Dollar, MS65
Scarce Any Finer

1877-S T$1 MS65 PCGS. CAC. Large S. Strong luster emerges beneath the patina, providing this Gem with a lovely appearance. The toning includes hues of light green, gold, and copper, with a few splashes of plum also present. The design elements exhibit strong definition overall. Light roller marks cross Liberty's head and a few of the stars. The 1877-S Trade dollar saw what was by far the largest mintage in the series, at nearly 10 million pieces. The introduction of the Morgan dollar in the following year would ultimately doom the series, even though both 1878-S Morgan and Trade dollars were struck. Population: 26 in 65, 7 finer (12/13).(Registry values: N4719)
