Description

White Gem 1877-S Trade Dollar
FS-802, Die Doubled Reverse

1877-S T$1 MS65 PCGS Secure. CAC. FS-802. Large S. The reverse is lightly die doubled, most prominently on TRADE and 420. The variety is undesignated on the PCGS insert. A wisp of gold patina visits this highly lustrous Gem. The strike is full, unusual for the series, with crisp definition on the eagle's legs and Liberty's hair. A few delicate obverse field marks are noted, mostly near the branch stem, but the reverse is virtually immaculate. Though the 1877-S has the highest mintage of the series, examples of the present extraordinary quality are subject to strong demand from type set collectors. Population: 25 in 65, 7 finer (11/12).(Registry values: N4719)
