Ottoman Empire. Abdul Aziz Proof 40 Para AH 1277 Year 10 (1869/1870) PR65 Brown NGC, Misr mint, KM249. NGC Top Pop. Tawny surfaces offer flashes of vermillion at edges, all while cloaked in a sheen of vibrant cerulean.

Abdul Aziz assumed the throne following the Crimean War and would rule for 15 years before his deposition. Aziz was the first Sultan to travel diplomatically, embarking on a European Tour in 1867, in addition to establishing the Istanbul Archaeology Museum, reorganizing Istanbul University, and issuing the first Turkish postage stamps.
