Description

Exquisite 1875 Twenty Cent, MS64

1875 20C MS64 PCGS. First year of issue for the brief cent series, struck only from 1875 to 1878, the last two years only in proof format. An amazing, nearly prooflike example with satiny silver luster and full brilliance. While each of the obverse stars is small in stature, they are all boldly detailed through the entire circumference of the die. Although shy of Gem quality, the surfaces are exceptional for the grade. The inside edge of the eagle's right (facing) wing is minutely doubled, and it may be a doubled die, however, it is more likely strike doubling.
