Description

1875-S Twenty Cent, Frosty MS66
High-End Type Coin

1875-S 20C MS66 PCGS. BF-5, R.2. BF-5 is known in a late die state with a shattered reverse and a rim cud below the date on the obverse. This piece lacks the rim cud on the obverse, and while the reverse is extensively cracked, the breaks are not as prominent as they are on the later state. This coin's appeal is as a type coin. The 1875-S twenty cent piece is scarce in MS66 and a major rarity finer, but it is the most plentiful issue in the series so well-preserved. This example displays shimmering original luster with golden interiors and blue-green borders. Some strike softness is noted on several border stars and the upper edge of the eagle's left (facing) wing. Population: 76 in 66 (10 in 66+), 7 finer (2/19).(Registry values: N4719)
