Description

1877 Twenty Cent, PR66 Cameo
Delightful Peripheral Patina

1877 20C PR66 Cameo PCGS. BF-1, R.3. The 1877 is a proof-only date, and has the lowest mintage of the series at just 510 pieces. BF-1 is the sole die variety, distinguished by the date location, reverse lapping, and obverse die lines from Liberty's foot. The present high-grade example has flashy fields and a frosty Liberty and eagle, but its most appealing attribute is its exquisite peripheral patina. Cherry-red, lemon-gold, and powder-blue shades dominate the margins. In addition, the strike is good, and the eye appeal is exceptional. A fleeting opportunity to secure the key date of the four-year proof series. Population: 4 in 66 Cameo, 1 finer (4/19).(Registry values: N4719)
