1864 Small Motto Two Cent
MS66 Red and Brown
Conditionally Scarce
1864 2C Small Motto, FS-401, MS66 Red and Brown NGC.
Although technically a variety of the 1864 issue, the Small Motto
two cent piece is collected as an independent date and is one of
the two keys to the circulation strike series. This Premium Gem is
among the finest Red and Brown coins known. The strike is sharp,
and neither side exhibits bothersome abrasions. Copper-orange
luster shows a woodgrain pattern of amber-brown toning on each
side. Census: 15 in 66 Red and Brown, 6 in 66 Red finer (1/18).Coin Index Numbers: (Variety PCGS# 38233, Base PCGS# 3580, Greysheet# 377849)
