1864 2C Small Motto, FS-401, MS66 Red and Brown NGC. Ex:
Richmond Collection. The 1864 Small Motto is one of the two key
dates in the two cent series, alongside the 1872. Small Motto coins
in MS66 Red and Brown are rare. The former Richmond coin boasts
sharp definition and satiny original mint luster. Accents of
burgundy join natural copper-red hues, creating a color palette
that leans toward Red but is not not quite there. The NGC insert
displays the obsolete Cherrypickers' attribution. Census: 16
in 66 Red and Brown, 0 finer (1/25).Ex: Richmond Collection, Part II (David Lawrence, 11/2004), lot 1100.
