Gem 1864 Small Motto Two Cent Piece, MS65 Brown
1864 2C Small Motto MS65 Brown PCGS. Is it technically a pattern or a short-lived regular issue? The jury is still out on this question, but it is certainly an intriguing one. Even if it is a pattern, the Small Motto has traditionally been considered a regular part of the two cent series and will continue to be. This is a brown coin, as PCGS has stated, but much of the original red is still apparent just beneath the thin veneer of brown patina. Sharply defined throughout.
