1865 2C Fancy 5 MS66+ Red PCGS. CAC. Ex: Simpson. The 1865 two cent piece is scarce in MS66 Red, and only a handful of coins in this grade are Plus designated. In fact, only 19 Red Fancy 5 coins are reported at PCGS in MS66 Red and finer condition (10/20). The Simpson coin is near the top of the Condition Census, as therefore it ranks among the most ideal candidates for a competitive Registry Set. The strike is sharp, and satiny copper-red luster illuminates the carbon-free and unabraded surfaces. Eye appeal exceeds expectations for the issue. Population (Fancy 5): 17 in 66 (5 in 66+) Red, 2 finer (9/20).
