Description

1865 Two Cent, MS66+ Red
Radiant Peach-Gold Surfaces

1865 2C Plain 5 MS66+ Red PCGS. CAC. The short two-cent series is eminently collectible but challenging in the finest grades with full Red color. This Plus-graded Premium Gem suits even the most advanced sets. CAC endorsed, the peach-gold surfaces radiate copper-orange accents and bright mint luster. Free of die clashing and showing only a few inconsequential carbon flecks, the frosted fields are nearly mark-free and the strike is razor-sharp. Not surprisingly, there are just four finer pieces reported in Red format by PCGS and NGC combined. Population (all varieties): 53 in 66 (4 in 66+) Red, 2 finer. CAC: 15 in 66, 0 finer (1/17).
