Red Gem 1869 Two Cent Piece
1869 2C MS65 Red NGC. A better date, much scarcer than the 1864 Large Motto as a Red Gem. This piece has light orange-red color on each side with a few blushes of red interspersed. Sharply defined except on the leaves on the left side of the shield. Only minor carbon is noted. A well preserved and attractive example, housed in a former generation holder. Census: 18 in 65 Red, 2 finer (11/08).Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2006), lot 622, which realized $2,760.(Registry values: N1793)
