Description

1869 Two Cent, Blazing MS66 Red
Tied for Finest Certified

1869 2C MS66 Red PCGS. Even though the U.S. Mint struck more than 1.5 million two cent pieces in the sixth year of the series' run, this survivor is notably finer than most. Stunning fire-red surfaces blaze with luster on both sides of this nicely preserved Premium Gem Red two cent, tied for finest with two other such at PCGS and two at NGC (11/15). The surface preservation is virtually impeccable. A few minuscule flecks of medium brown toning are scarcely worth a mention. A nice PCGS TrueView photo accompanies this lot. A spectacular piece for a top-notch Registry Set or year set. The last example in this PCGS grade that we offered, lot 3649 in our FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2014), was pedigreed to the Wineguy Collection and brought $15,275.(Registry values: N2998)
