Description

1872 Two Cent Piece, MS64 Brown
Doubled Die Obverse, FS-101

1872 2C MS64 Brown NGC. FS-101. TRUST is die doubled north. The variety is undesignated on the insert. Mintages of two cent pieces declined each year of the denomination, as commerce gradually recovered from the ravages of the Civil War. By 1872, only 64,000 business strikes were issued. This fully struck and satiny near-Gem exhibits deep powder-blue and plum-mauve toning. Inconspicuous strike-throughs (as made) cross the shield borders.(Registry values: N1793)
