1872 Two Cent, MS64 Red and Brown
Final-Year Key Date
1872 2C MS64 Red and Brown NGC. The final issue of the
short-live two cent series ended in 1872 with a small mintage of
65,000 pieces. Red and Brown examples are elusive and become
conditionally rare in Premium Gem. This Choice Red and Brown
example displays satiny mint luster beneath shades of plum, caramel
and copper-orange. The reverse shows slight strike softness on the
far right side, but the definition is otherwise excellent. Light
abrasions limit the grade. NGC shows only 15 numerically finer Red
