    Description

1872 Two Cent, MS65 Red and Brown
    Final Circulation-Strike Issue

1872 2C MS65 Red and Brown PCGS. CAC. Both sides show an even blend of copper-peach and dappled blue-green and violet across each side. Luster is warm and inviting, the surfaces pleasingly preserved, and the all-around eye appeal excellent. Though two cent pieces were struck in 1873, they were proofs only and the denomination was cancelled with the Mint Act of 1873. The final two cent coins for circulation were made the year before and dated 1872. Not all of the 65,000 examples survive and it is one of the clear keys to its odd-denomination series. Population: 10 in 65 (1 in 65+) Red and Brown, 0 finer (12/13).(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 22NG, PCGS# 3613)
