Description

1872 Two Cent, MS65 Red
The Finest Red Coin at NGC
CAC-Endorsed and Outstanding

1872 2C MS65 Red NGC. CAC. The 1872 two cent piece boasts a trivial mintage of 65,000 pieces and is the final circulation issue in the series. It is rarer in Red condition than the Small Motto variety of 1864. NGC lists only four Red examples, of which this Gem is the sole finest (12/18). The CAC-endorsed surfaces are satiny, unabraded, and virtually carbon-free. This is a well-struck piece with original copper-orange mint luster and outstanding eye appeal. A few minuscule flecks are noted on the reverse exergue. Census: 1 in 65 Red, 0 finer. CAC: 3 in 65, 1 finer (12/18).(Registry values: N2998)
