Description

1873 Open 3 Two Cent, PR65+ Red and Brown
Attractive CAC-Endorsed Example

1873 2C Open 3 PR65+ Red and Brown PCGS. CAC. The 1873 two cent piece is a proof-only issue, divided into two subtypes by date logotype -- Open 3 and Closed 3. Many collectors believe Closed 3 pieces to be later restrikes, while Open 3 coins undisputed in their originality to 1873 proof production. This high-end Gem Red and Brown coin displays mostly copper-red color, with golden and lilac accents. The strike is sharp, and the mostly unspotted surfaces are modestly reflective, well deserving of their CAC endorsement. Population: 23 in 65 (1 in 65+) Red and Brown, 20 finer. CAC: 12 in 65, 10 finer (10/21).(Registry values: N2998)
