ROBINSON AWARDED BY THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES, MARCH 1. 1871., in six lines FOR HIS HEROIC CONDUCT ON THE 14 DAY OF APRIL 1865. IN SAVING THE LIFE OF THE HONORABLE WM. H. SEWARD, THEN SECRETARY OF STATE OF THE UNITED STATES. Reverse, scene of Robinson repelling the murderous attempt of Lewis Powell (a.k.a. Lewis Paine) against the life of the bedridden Seward. G.Y. COFFIN DES. and PAQUET F. on exergual line. Glossy reddish-brown surfaces reveal few handling marks and only a couple of tiny spots. Sharp and pleasing.
