Description
1876 U.S. Centennial Mint Medal. Julian-CM-11. Bronze. 57 mm. Obverse: Liberty bestows wreaths on kneeling Industry and Art, date 1876 below. Around, IN COMMEMORATION OF THE HUNDREDTH ANNIVERSARY OF AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE. ACT OF CONGRESS JUNE 1874. Reverse: Rising Liberty with sword beneath glory rays and a circle of 13 stars. Date 1776 in exergue. Around, THESE UNITED COLONIES ARE, AND OF RIGHT OUGHT TO BE, FREE AND INDEPENDENT STATES. Designed by William Barber. This is an attractive milk-chocolate piece with some luster amid trivial field haze and a couple of unimportant marks.Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 661040)
