    Description

    1860 Lincoln "Liberty Union And Equality" Campaign Token. King-42, Sullivan-AL-1860-43. Copper, reeded edge, 27.8 mm, 7.8 gm. Bust right of Lincoln on obverse with REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE at the periphery from 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock, ABRAHAM LINCOLN around the lower edge, the legends being separated by two stars, 1860 below shoulder. The reverse features an eagle that is a copy of the style used on contemporary silver coinage, three stars below, and LIBERTY UNION AND EQUALITY around. Struck from rusted dies on a less-than-choice planchet. The color is a uniform pale-brown and the details are AU. Rim cuds are observed on the obverse between 6 and 9 o'clock. A scarce issue in copper.
