Description
1896 "United Snakes of America" Bryan Dollar. Schornstein-353. White medal, reeded edge, 45 mm, 2.5 mm thick, 19.3 gm. A satirical piece from the 1896 presidential campaign. Obverse: Goose with a donkey's head and the initials P.O.P.--a reference to the Populist Party--on the wing, UNITED SNAKES OF AMERICA around, IN BRYAN WE TRUST in upper right field. Reverse: FREE SILVER at upper edge, ONE DAM in center, and 1896 below. This piece is VF in terms of detail, but has been crudely repaired at the 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock rims.Auction Info
