Description
Mint Error. 5 Centesimos 1941 Reverse Capped Die, MS67 NGC. Every so often, a coin blank, in the process of being struck, gets stuck on one of the dies. As the coin now becomes an unwelcomed part of the die, it slams against other blanks in the coining process, causing the metal of this deformed coin to form around, or cap the die. Quite scarce, as most are caught by mint inspectors prior to them entering commerce.From the Donald H. Kagin Collection.
