Description

Challenging 1916 MS66 Half Dollar

1916 50C MS66 PCGS. The 1916 was saved in large quantities, as typical for most first year issues. Mint State specimens are thus more common in today's market than the limited mintage (608,000 business strikes) might suggest. That said, Premium Gems such as the current offering are still challenging, and higher-grade pieces are elusive. Light to medium golden-gray patina rests on lustrous surfaces and an exacting strike leaves sharp detail on the devices. No mentionable marks appear on either side. Population: 73 in 66, 4 finer (8/09).(Registry values: N1793)
