1916-S Half Dollar, MS65
Original, Lustrous First-Year Piece
1916-S 50C MS65 NGC. In addition to having the lowest
first-year mintage of the three mints, the 1916-S is also the
scarcest. With the Western economy bustling in 1916, the new half
dollars were heavily circulated, leaving almost half of the
certified population at NGC under VG. This lustrous Gem displays
original pewter-gray surfaces accented with champagne-gold toning
within the legends. The strike is outstanding for the issue,
showing only slightly soft on the centers. NGC shows just 27 finer
