Description
1916-S Walker, Remarkable MS66
Just Two Coins Numerically Finer
1916-S 50C MS66 PCGS. CAC. Blue and forest-green shades
occupy the obverse margins, while ivory-gold toning and drifts
across the satin-smooth fields of this lustrous and attractive
first-year Walking Liberty half. The reverse shows tan-gold and
blue shades at the borders. The strike lacks fullness at the
centers, yet the coin is nevertheless quite sharp for a 1916-S.Scarcest of the three 1916 issues, the S-Mint production of only 508,000 pieces accounts in part for its rarity in Premium Gem condition. Population reports show the 1916-S is nearly unobtainable in a finer grade. By definition, any MS66 example is tied for third in the Condition Census since only two MS67 coins are known (one at each service). This stunning example is second to none in eye appeal and surface quality. As expected, the coin is CAC endorsed. Population: 13 in 66, 1 finer. CAC: 4 in 66, 2 finer (6/16).
