Description

1917-D Reverse Mintmark Half, MS65
Scarce Early Date in Gem Condition

1917-D 50C Reverse Mintmark MS65 PCGS. In 1916 and the first part of 1917, the Denver and San Francisco branch mints stamped their mark on the obverse of the new Walking Liberty half dollar. The mintmark was moved to the reverse midway through 1917. Far fewer examples of the 1917-D Reverse Mintmark half dollar were saved than its Obverse Mintmark counterpart. On this impressive Gem, slight softness occurs on the drapery lines, the motto, and the eagle's leg -- all normal for the issue -- but Liberty's branch hand is fully defined. The impeccably preserved, lustrous surfaces create outstanding eye appeal. Population: 58 in 65 (6 in 65+), 5 finer (11/25).(Registry values: N4719)
