Description

1917-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar, MS64+
Short-Lived Obverse Mintmark Version

1917-S 50C Obverse Mintmark MS64+ PCGS. Ex: Ron Bauer. For the first half of 1917, the Denver and San Francisco Mints struck half dollars with dies that had the mintmark in the lower right obverse field. Later production during this year saw the mintmark moved to the reverse. The 1917-S Obverse Mintmark issue boasts a mintage of less than 1 million coins and is scarce in Choice and better grades. This Plus-graded Choice example displays satiny ivory-white luster and no significant abrasions are seen. The design elements are well-detailed, with a touch of the usual softness on the centers. Population: 12 in 64+, 61 finer (11/25).(Registry values: N2998)
