Description

1917-S Walking Liberty Half, MS64
Obverse Mintmark
Vibrantly Toned Semikey Date

1917-S 50C Obverse Mintmark MS64 PCGS. The second issue of Adolf Weinman's Walking Liberty half dollar has two varieties, as the Mint Director ordered the relocation of the mintmark to the reverse during the production year. San Francisco had already struck 952,000 coins with the obverse mintmark, and such examples become scarce in Gem and conditionally rare any finer. Walkers such as this Choice 1917-S example are seldom seen with such dazzling tones of lemon-gold, amber, lilac and occasional wisps of emerald on both sides.(Registry values: N2998)
