Description

1917-S Walking Liberty Half, MS65
Reverse Mintmark

1917-S 50C Reverse Mintmark MS65 PCGS. Ex: Betty's Walkers. The branch mint Walkers of 1916 had the mintmark on the obverse while those in 1917 had some pieces with an obverse mintmark and others with a reverse mintmark. Technically speaking, the two issues constitute separate subtypes of the basic design, meaning that this 1917 reverse mintmark is a first year of issue for type collectors. This Gem is highly lustrous with brilliant surfaces and faint traces of lavender-gray toning on each side. Blemishes are nearly nonexistent and entirely trivial. The design elements are well-detailed, with a touch of the usual softness on the centers, and the overall eye appeal is first-rate. Population: 65 in 65 (4 in 65+), 13 finer (11/25).(Registry values: N4719)
